The Acolyte (Disney plus) is over, and hopefully dead. the writers are awful. Don’t you dare bring Yoda into this. Did we forget “A long time ago in a galaxy far far away?” Mae escapes Soul, and her killer retort is “See you in hell!” Ummm… what? And then, O’Shucks, who has avoided violence at every turn, suddenly death grips someone. Finally, O’Shit gives Mae what she’s always wanted. Wait, WHAT? Her brain is wiped, she’s basically catatonic, and left for the Jedi’s to find. To become a Jedi? The hell? And this Mastter Jedi isn’t thinking it’s weird that this fully grown woman remembers nothing? She just accepts that? cancel this show.
Land Of Women (Apple Plus) had an interesting episode that meant nothing. Then, the episode ends with a certain someone showing up out of the blue. I hope she lets him take the fall. Also, props to Kate for calling her girlfriend and telling her what’s happening, and putting the ball in her court. It’s not a bad show, and it’s not trying to win any Emmys, so it works as a fluffy Eva Longoria vehicle that’s fun to watch while downing a bottle of wine.
Sonny (Apple Plus) is more interesting, as the plot thickens in Episode 3. They want to hold a funeral, but that may or may not happen. We still don’t know who is following and stalking our leads, but the chick front he bar is helpful, in eventually leading our main duo to a place where robots beat each other to death. Sunny, RUN!
UnPrisoned (Hulu) is back. Season 1 really had an underrated performance from Delroy Lindo, so I’m excited to see where his performance can go in the second season. It looks like we still have a complicated father/daughter dynamic that works well for this show.
