Kicked off the day the best way with Dead boy Detectives (Netflix), which is quickly becoming an attachment of mine. After watching Lockwood and Co go nowhere, if Netflix cancels this show, I’ll never be able to trust them in this genre again. This episode, which saw the boys investigate why two frat boys got murdered, also saw more screentime for Jenny, as she found out her secret admirer, and we learned a bit more about the witch and her evil plans. This show has some really good audio description, and even made a point to bring up the fact that the two frat boys were racially specific, drawing a parallel to the Dead Boys.

The third episode of The big Door Prize (Apple plus) this season explored Dusty’s six week hiatus on marriage. It also showed what two other characters got from the Morpho machine as their “next level”. For a comedy, this is well described, which is important since it has a broad ensemble, and some science fiction elements.

X-Men 97 (Disney plus) wrapped its first season, leaving the X-Men either missing or spread out across time. It also teased characters for next season, but also the possibility of more than one villain. Yes, at least one reveal was big, though that character was already in the series. The episode does lean pretty heavily into Onslaught, so maybe it could go there? The amount of Easter eggs left on the floor is always a little sad. I perhaps would have mixed it up a bit more, and instead of pointing out yet again Omega Red and Silver Samurai, who have already been name checked, perhaps mention Psylocke, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, or any of the other cameos left to the sighted. The best moment came when Scott is watching Logan’s touch-and-go recovery and he tells Logan not to break her heart, acknowledging that he knows there’s a part of Jean that has feelings for Logan, even if she makes the choice of Scott every day.

the Good Doctor (Hulu) has improved audio description over the season, and in the next to last episode, has set us up for an emotional finale. An old face returns, Claire, who has cancer and needs the help of her old medical family. Meanwhile, the thing I could tell was happening in the background was finally said, as Sean had an eye opening reveal given to him. Just when he thought he helped with the Hannah situation, in one of the series strongest moments, he is then delivered a blow. That’s as vague as I can be without directly spoiling it. Series finales mean anyone is fair game.

American Rust (amazon) continues to move forward with its twisty plot, that actually has multiple arcs to it. After finding the body, and having to explain himself, Jeff Daniels is left pretty much with nothing, as Maura Tierney’s character is still trying to dodge this random murder being pointed at her.

911 (Hulu) in a Season 5 catch-up, finally wrapped up the story arc from harry, who had been a pain in the ass all season, in a Halloween episode that started with a guy being buried alive. I’m so happy this show has audio description now, at least in Season 5.

Palm Royale (Apple plus) saw several twists near the end, as I think I’m near the end anyway, as the stakes get ramped up. we did get more of Carol Burnett actually talking, which was great, and Allison Janney has also been great all season. I’m not that big of a fan of the show overall, but it has some strong marks. I expected it to be funnier? The whole thing with Nixon starting to get thrown in the conversation added to the flavor of the period. I had actually kind of forgotten when this took place.

Elsabeth (Paramount Plus) has quirky audio description that works well, and in this episode that featured guest star Gina Gershon, we also got closer to hearing about this season long arc that brought her here in the first place. I’m happy this hasn’t been cancelled.
