The New Wilderness – The Bridge

By Ingridd @cosytraveler

According to Wikipedia,

bridge is a structure built to span physical obstacles such as a body of watervalley, or road, for the purpose of providing passage over the obstacle. There are many different designs that all serve unique purposes and apply to different situations. Designs of bridges vary depending on the function of the bridge, the nature of the terrain where the bridge is constructed and anchored, the material used to make it, and the funds available to build it.

The obstacle in this case was the swamp and the material that was used for the bridge was wood. But – according to my humble opinion – bridges do more than “providing passage”. They can link islands together or different regions; in other words, they can take you to other worlds. And at the Oostvaardersplassen, the bridge takes you from the swamp to … somewhere else! More about that tomorrow.

By the way, you know what I like so much about Dutch people? They are a lot more open and spontaneous. A lot of people greeted us for example; in Belgium they would look at you as if you came from another planet.
