The Method to Change Admin Password of Your Wireless Router

Posted on the 06 April 2016 by Lenalenson

Every router device connected in your computer network has a unique internet protocol address for easy access and change of settings. When your network router has 10.0.0.1 as the ip address, it acts as a default ip or default gateway to your device. Along with the default internet protocol address, your router connected to the network will also have default username and password to access the login page and control panel settings. With the help of this ip address, you can easily change the admin password of the device.

Understanding usage of 10.0.0.1:

When the routers have a default password for a long time, it is very easy to the hackers to hack accessing your device. So, the experts are suggesting to change the default value of your router’s login information like default username and password for the greater protection.

When you never changed the default password of the admin control on your network router, many hackers get into your device settings page and login using the default values. They are mostly targeting on the commercially available network routers to collapse your network and get the secret business information through the illegal network access. This is why it is highly necessary to change your router’s default password using the default 10.0.0.1 ip address.

Steps to change/reset the admin password:

If the network owners have totally lost your password which you set and need to reset it to its manufacturer assigned default password, you have to follow these steps. The steps may vary from one router model or another. If you are confused with these steps, you can check out the manual given by your router manufacturer for the effective resetting procedure.

  1. You have to press and also hold a reset button at the back of your router device. This first step will surely wipe out all configuration settings of your router and set it back to its manufacturer defined default login values. You need to change some other router settings like password, SSID of the network, encryption settings, and more after finishing this step.
  2. You actually need to hold a reset button at least from 10 to 30 seconds as per your router brand. If you hold it for too little time, it can just reset your router but can’t return back to its manufacturer default settings.
  3. In the next step, you have to connect your computer to the router device using the Ethernet cables.
  4. In the address bar of your router, you have to type 10.0.0.1 ip address to get in to the administration interface of your device.
  5. Then, you need to enter the default admin username as admin and also the default admin password.
  6. In the next step, you have to click on the administration settings from the configuration page of your router. It can be very helpful to create a strong password to access your router configuration settings.

Once the configuration of a router set back, you can change a default password as per your needs for obtaining complete protection to your device.
