The Greatest Accolade I Could Receive – Thank You

By Linusm

Yesterday, the National Wedding Awards shortlist of finalists was released.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t amongst the 25 Regional finalists.

However, the great news received was deeply valuable.  Something that really struck home, the reviews and support shared by some of my clients.

In creating my business over the last 7 years, its been a huge learning curve, both professionally and personally.  All this has been driven from passion.  Passion for my work, echoing the love I have for those around me.

My belief in how I would want my own wedding captured, keeping couples at ease and within the company of their gathered guests as much as possible.  I do not see the wedding day as a time to be spent performing poses to satisfy a photographers artistic fantasy.  Especially not to the detriment of precious time to mix and enjoy with close friends and family.

All comments left by the wonderful couples I have worked with have upheld my beliefs, my passion and my intent, who I am and how I want my work to develop.

One comment in particular resonated with me.  It encapsulates my intention to uphold the integrity within my work.

“We knew when we first met Linus,we knew we wanted him to do our Wedding photos. His amazing portfolio and strong presentation aside, his warm and comfortable persona when we spoke to him sold it to us. What a gentleman.

He listened to us, through a few ideas in conversation which was exactly what we wanted and more.

After a long conversation he did say to us “go and have a look at other photographers to get an idea what others have to offer and see what you think“.

How unselfish and professional, yet he could have simply tried to go in for the hard sell but he didn’t.

That is what we liked about Linus, honest, trustworthy and a photographer and not a sales man.

He made it about us and what we wanted. Out of all the photographers we did see, Linus made us feel that our day is for us to enjoy and he will be there to capture it for us and for the story to be told.

Couldn’t have booked the date any quicker.”

Testimonials like this are deeply rewarding.  Honesty in my approach and a heartfelt wish to do every wedding the upmost service it deserves.  My approach is simple and appreciated.

Last year I made the cut. Next year I will endeavour to do the same.

Maybe I should and could have approached more in a more reasonable time scale, rather than asking for them within the closing week.  But hey, I’m human and maybe not the greatest multi tasking photographer on the planet.

I’ve had one hell of a year, I’ve met my beautiful partner Andrea, completed a house move, taken two (short) holidays, raised a litter of 15 puppies (mid wedding season), invested in new camera systems, started working with my own associate photographers, worked out new work flows, out sourced post production and more.

Sometimes life get in the way, they say – well life is GREAT!

Next year for the next awards, the polish is coming out!  2017 is going to be the one!

To all the couples I’ve worked with over the last season – Thank you for choosing me to capture your day and the ongoing support.  It is greatly appreciated

If you are planning your own wedding and like my style of photography, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
