The Fille Files (February 12 - 18)

Posted on the 18 February 2012 by Cinefilles @cinefilles
Each week, the Filles bring you some of our favorite films finds of the week—news, reviews, features, interviews, tweets, new releases, etc.—just in case you missed them.
REEL GREAT READS
The Fille Files (February 12 - 18)
  •  The Ship of Fools (Roger Ebert's Journal) - One of all-time favorite male movie critics, uh, ships one of our (or, at least Emily's) favorite sick day/Sunday/everyday movies, the Celine Dion soundtrack-set epicness that is Titanic. (Don't tell me I'm the only one anxiously anticipating the 3D release!)
  • Inside the all-black (almost!) reading of 'Reservoir Dogs' (EW) Jason Reitman keeps staging these awesome-sounding, star-studded cold readings of classic screenplays (see also: The Princess Bride, The Breakfast Club). But we're particularly intrigued by this one, which changes up the race of the cast of Tarantino's ultra-violent first opus, subbing in Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Laurence Fishburne for Michael Madsen, Tim Roth and  Harvey Keitel.

WEEKEND WATCHES

  • This Means War - Okay, this rom-com starring Chris Pine, Tom Hardy, Reese Witherspoon and Chelsea Handler looks mighty lame. But we loved Reese enough to see Four Christmases, so I suppose we'll see this too.
  • The Rum Diary (DVD) - We never got a chance to catch this, the latest Hunter S. Thompson-inspired Johnny Depp flick, in theatres. And although it got semi-awful reviews, it looks kind of gorgeous. And we've had a girl crush on Amber Heard since All the Boys Love Mandy Lane.

TRAILER OF THE WEEK: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

This trailer, for the film based on the book of the same name, is a tad underwhelming. And there's an explained shot of the Lincoln Memorial thrown in randomly. However, we're fascinated by the fact that Abe seems to be able to keep his signature top hat in place while beheading the undead.
