The Expendables 3 (2014) Review

They are back for a third outing and have even more star power to go with it, Stallone leading the line for this action packed installment.

With this now being the third film we already know what to expect from this type of film. It is going to be filled with explosions, fight scenes both with and without weapons and not forgetting incredibly cheesy lines. I find this to be well up there in my guilty pleasures as it really does throw back to older films.

Harrison Ford and Mel Gibson have been added to the already incredible star powered cast. Mel Gibson taking on the bad guy role and fits in very well. Harrison Ford gets in a helicopter and they manage to squeeze an incredible “Get to the chopper” line for Arnie! What is not to love about that?

The story for the film is mainly around Barney retiring the old team and bringing in some younger members. Obviously this does not go down well with Christmas et al. But don’t worry plenty of things happen during the course of the film. Barney just wants to try to protect them which is a nice little touch to the story.

Some of the scenes are truly hilarious and it really is a lot of fun to watch at the cinema. You cannot help but love what they are doing with these films as it really comes across that they are all having so much fun. This makes it even easier and more fun to watch. Don’t expect too much from it and I am sure you will have seen the first two films and know exactly what it’s all about.

Wesley Snipes offers a pretty crazy introduction and you cannot help but laugh at the way he goes on during the film as well. Honestly how come it has taken so many years to get all these action stars together in these films?!?! I know it won’t please everyone, but if you want to see an action film and switch off for a couple of hours you will be crazy to miss this one.

Antonio Banderas is just hilarious from his first scene as well, so over the top and totally hyper its unreal. The ending leaves it for a 4th film to be made as well. I am sure this will be a hit at the box office. I went to see it on a Tuesday evening and the screen was full! Not bad really, everyone still loves a bit of Stallone!
