The Division “Not Possible on Last Gen” Consoles, PvP Can’t be Switched Off
Tom Clancy’s The Division, developed by Massive Entertainment, is still a ways off but executive producer Fredrik Rundqvist shared some interesting bits of information in conversation with Examiner.
“Sure. We want the game to be as accessible as possible. What we wanted to do with the graphics and with the seamless open-world is not possible to do on last-gen.”
Another interesting note was provided regarding Player vs. Player combat.  You won’t be able to switch it off and if you want to avoid fighting other players, you’ll need to “avoid going into the Dark Zone.” These are zones with PvP enabled, though it hasn’t been specified whether they are solely meant for PvP.
Rundqvist also spoke about the success of the PS4 and Xbox One and how this will pave the way for a strong user base next year. “If you look at the [sales] trends for PS4 and Xbox One, I think it looks really encouraging. It’s selling faster than last-gen, which is surprising to me. I don’t mind at all [that The Division] is coming out next year. There will be more people who can enjoy the game.”
The Division releases in 2015 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
