The Big Chop Diaries: My Castor Oil Miracle!

By Ipage @xquisite_curls
So, on my last post, I had mentioned how ridiculously dry my hair has been post-BC. I also mentioned that I would try a product from my childhood, called Dudley's Moisture Retainer, but I haven't bought it yet. Sue me.
While browsing through YouTube yet again, I began to notice talk of castor oil and its many benefits to hair. I currently have a bottle of castor oil sitting unused in my bathroom, which my doctor had suggested I take to induce labor about 9 months ago. By the way, I promptly ignored that advice and had my mini terrorist the next day after two hours of labor. I have heard toooo many horror stories about castor oil and pregnancy to even think about using it. I do not know what that doctor was thinking when he suggested it. Wait, that's the problem right there, HE suggested it. Men....smdh.
We ("I") seem to be a few miles off topic. My bad! Okay let's swing left here and get back to business. Like I was saying, I kept coming across videos and posts that talked about using castor oil on the hair. So I decided to put that bottle to use.
-I added some castor oil to my regular conditioner.
-I mixed some castor oil with some tea tree and jojoba oils.

Considering that nothing has worked on my hair for these past few days, the immediate results on my hair were relatively amazing. Not counting my bedtime routine, I only had to re-moisturize once. ONCE. Now remember, I had been moisturizing my hair about 4 times a day before I started using castor oil. So I'm not mad at that at all! My hair has been retaining more moisture and actually feels...dare I say it...kinda soft!

I had also mentioned Scab hair in the previous blog post. But with this new castor oil development, I'm not so sure I believe in it anymore. Scab Hair may really be more about retaining moisture than it is about the state of your hair follicles. But take that with a grain of salt, this is coming from someone who has been natural for exactly 4 days. I will keep you updated on my progress.
