The Bane of My Existence Or The PTA Budget

By Matthewspuzzle @matthewspuzzle

For some unknown reason I have decided to be the new PTA President for our elementary school. “Why would you do such as thing”, you may ask. Well, you see, I have very new neighbors and the mother had expressed an interest in joining the PTA Board. I had already joined said board as the Secretary. New neighbor had wanted to be the Secretary, so I said “Take the Secretary position and I will take one of the others.” Well, the only “other” position left was the presidency. So I took it. I’m not bright.

Now, as the new PTA President (with as it so happens, a 100% new board) I have to help come up with the new budget. Since none of us have done this before we don’t really know what all the line items mean. And I don’t really know how much to expect to make. Or how much we will spend. Anyway, I have worked that budget over several times and have submitted it to my board for them to review. Each time they come back with more questions. Questions I can’t answer. At least not easily.

Dear Lord, I just want to get a decent budget put together and voted upon so I can move on to my next set of duties. Back to School Night and Back to School Bingo!I pray next year will be easier since I’m gonna know a lot more.

If you see a headline in the newspaper about the PTA President abdicating her “throne” you will know it was me!
