Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)

By Newguy

logoDirector: James Cameron

Writer: James Cameron, William Wisher Jr (Screenplay)

Starring: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong, Robert Patrick, Earl Boen, Joe Morton,

Plot: Almost 10 years have passed since the first cyborg called The Terminator tried to kill Sarah Connor and her unborn son, John Connor. John Connor, the future leader of the human resistance, is now a healthy young boy. However another Terminator is sent back through time called the T-1000, which is more advanced and more powerful than its predecessor. The Mission: to kill John Connor when he’s still a child. However, Sarah and John do not have to face this threat of a Terminator alone. Another Terminator is also sent back through time. The mission: to protect John and Sarah Connor at all costs. The battle for tomorrow has begun.

Verdict: Instant Classic

Story: Returning from the future the Terminator is here for good this time. This makes a good twist as we have Terminator versus T-1000 a much more advanced Terminator. The fight for the future is all put together very well with both parties aiming for the same target to stop the end of the world in the future and stop the rise of the machines. Even with such a detailed story it is easy to watch and simple to keep up with everything, we don’t have any twists that make us question what is happening, it is all linear and this works to its advantage as it has become one of the best sci-fi action films of all time. (10/10)

Actor Review

Arnold Schwarzenegger: The Terminator a killing machine sent back from the future, this time he is sent to protect John Connor rather than take out Sarah. He has turned into the perfect bodyguard and will not give up until John is safe from all the enemies around. Great performance from Arnold with this role made for him to shine in. (10/10)

Linda Hamilton: Sarah Connor stuck in a mental home after what happened during the first film, no one believes her so she plays to escape but the Terminators are both after her. She reluctantly teams up with the same Terminator model who tried to kill her to take down Cyberdyne before the machines start to rise. Great performance making her a true action star leading lady. (10/10)

Edward Furlong: John Connor the feisty 10 year old who one day will lead the resistance against the machines, he is the target of the T-1000 but has his own guardian angel sent back to protect him in the Terminator. He is smarter than most kids his age showing computer hacking skills years ahead of time. Good performance from Edward as the would be hero, but this would end up being the highlight of his career. (9/10)

Robert Patrick: T-1000 the ruthless emotionless machine sent back in time to kill John Connor, this machine has the ability to flow through anything in its liquid form and also becomes nearly impossible to destroy. Brilliant performance from Robert, creating one of the most memorable villains in film history. (10/10)
