Story: Tarantula! Starts when a small Arizona town has an unexpected death. Dr Hastings (Agar) can’t explain what cause the change in the victim. However, once he gets to meet the local scientist Professor Deemer (Carroll) he learns about his research.

Deemer has been working on an experiment to create giantism, but one of his subjects has escaped. A tarantula has started to roam the desert searching for food, with humans being top of its menu. It becomes a race to stop the giant spider before it grows to a size they can’t stop.

Verdict on Tarantula!

Tarantula! Is a sci-fi horror movie from the era of the 1950s when everything was being turned into horror. This follows a scientist working on creating giantism that finds his experiment breaking free. In this case, a giant spider goes on a rampage through the desert.

This works for the time and gets to bring a common fear to a giant level. The normal fear of spiders would make this increasingly scary for anyone involved. It is a story in which we see a giant creature terrorising a small town formula that requires something big to stop it. Easy to watch and true to form, this vintage creature feature works well.

Final Thoughts Tarantula! Is a typical vintage creature feature movie.
