Tan – “A Summer To Remember”

Tan A Summer To RememberThis winter has been the coldest winter for the majority of the country (USA).  So if you are like me you can’t wait for summer to arrive.  Just like clothes I need new music for the summer time for when I cruise around to or even when I am just hanging out with my friends.

Well this new singer called Tan is just what we need for our summer time playlist.  Tan comes to us from an island called Penang which is part of Malaysia.  He has been working on his musical talent since the age of ten by making his debut on the television show called Astro Kid’s Talent Quest Season One.  After that he wanted to know more about music so he ended up taking an online course at Berklee College of Music.

After that he then decided to take a big jump by moving to Hollywood, CA and enrolling in the college of Contemporary Music, Musicians Institute.  With all of this background on how the music is made you can tell has heaped him in the song writing processes.  His first EP is called “A Summer To Remember” and was able to get some big names in the industry to help him make this EP really something for us to remember.  He has Mario Marchetti (Demi Lovato, Jennifer Lopez) work as the producer and Evern Göknar (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mariah Carey) to be the master engineer.

The EP starts of with a catchy song called “Heat Wave”.  It starts off with his vocals that are just spot on.  As he does that intro to the song everything starts to softly come in and by the time he is done it hits you.  The instruments are done so well that you can’t help but tap your foot or fingers with the song.  This song would be perfect for the drive up the coast or heading to a festival.  I say that because by the time the chorus come in the second time you’re singing along having a great time and the feel to this song is perfect for a drive.

If I Could I Would” then take the EP into a little bit more slower place.  I really love how he slowed down the EP and is showing a different side to him.  This song is really showing his softer side.  I also think this song would be perfect in a Television show or Romantic Comedy movie.  i can guarantee if someone who was a music producer on one of these projects heard this song they would want to use it.  It is very well put together so well from the vocals to the lyrics.

The last song on the EP was another one that caught my attention.  “Tonight” has a familiar sound to me.  In this song he sounds a lot like Ryan Star, who is yet another great artist everyone needs to check out.  What I think I like about this song is it has a more raw feeling to it.  Unlike the past songs the instruments are less electric and more natural sounding.  You can also really hear all of the emotion that he has put into his vocals and lyrics of this song.  I really think this is a song that everyone needs to check out because it has been done so well.

I really enjoyed this EP and the title to it is just perfect.  If you have this EP on your summer playlist it really will become “A Summer To Remember”.  I’m giving this EP a 5/5 stars because it was done so well and I’m sure everyone will enjoy it.  Not only that I think we will be hearing a lot more from Tan in the near future.
