Sunflower Bean: Twentytwo in Blue

Brooklyn trio Sunflower Bean mix power-pop, psych-punk and college rock on their second album Twentytwo in Blue. The riffs and hooks can hold their own against Blondie, The Shirts, The Yeah-Yeah-Yeahs, REM and Fleetwood Mac (case in point: I Was A Fool. The band members are still young - the album's title is a dead giveaway, but have a deep knowledge of classic rock and indie music.

Twentytwo in Blue is one of those rare albums that will garner rave reviews from critics and music geeks, as well string a chord with the general public who will appreciate their ability to write smart songs that are a few blocks away from the main roads. If they can keep it up, a tour hitting the main halls of all the top clubs is just around the corner.

Sunflower Bean:
Julia Cumming: vocals bass
Jacob Faber: drums
Nick Kivlen: vocals. guitar
