Successful Businessmen – Charles Phillips

Posted on the 15 October 2012 by Nuwave

We all have our dreams of being successful business men or someone who makes a large income. We strive towards these goals but not everyone achieves it. Today I’ll talk about one out of many successful businessman, specifically Charles Phillips.

Who is Charles Phillips?

Charles Phillips

Born in 1959, Charles Phillips is the current CEO of Infor which is experienced in enterprise software for financial systems and resource planning to supply chains and customers.  Before joining Phillips was until September 2010 the president of Oracle Corporation and a member of the board of directors. Some of his responsibilities included encompassing global field operations.

What is Oracle Corporation?

When it comes to making serious money Oracle Corporation is the place to be. Their annual revenue for the year 2012 is currently at 37.1 billion dollars! This is a large multi nation company with an employee count of over 115,000 people.

While Oracle Corporation is indeed an international company they are an American computer technology company.  Their specialty is the development and mass marketing of computer hardware systems and enterprise software (similar to what Infor does minus the hardware).

Oracle Corporation has achieved its growth through high-profile acquisitions and organic growth.

Lawsuits

Once you are wide recognized in the world or wealthy you always become the target of lawsuits and anything negative. This is just natural as people will try to take your money. Oracle Corporation has had their share of lawsuits as a result but their most recent one is with HP (Hewlett Packward).  HP claims that Oracle breached a contract with their new Itanium microprocessors used in HP’s enterprise servers. Oracle responded with ” an abuse of judicial process “

August 2012 judge said in a tentative ruling that Oracle must continue porting its software to Itanium at no cost until HP discontinues manufacturing the processor.  Oracle is hoping to appeal this ruling but more information is being worked on by the courts to see if Oracle did indeed breach the contract with HP.

Conclusion

In the end we learn that successful businessmen and large corporations are usually either A. Loved by All or B. Hated. There really is no in between as this is a tough world especially when you get to the top percentage that these individuals corporations are at. The most important thing is to be an honest business man no matter how wealthy you become as that is what will separate you from the rest at the top ladder. Not everyone does honest trading or business on the way up but if you keep that quality while you are starting early it’ll make you shine!
