Stress-Free is the Way to Be

Posted on the 18 February 2017 by Cheekymeeky

Remember in The Little Mermaid when Sebastian the crab said "the human world, it's a mess"? It's a bit of a brash and random take on things, but let's stick with it. Anthropomorphic crustaceans seem to have a better grip on reality than most of us, and we've only got ourselves to blame. We are living in a world where we have run so fast, for so long, at something with the aim of being more productive, more useful, more thrifty, more focused - we are always looking for more without realizing that it's going to take a lot less for us to achieve what we really need.

But isn't a busy lifestyle what life is all about?

Not necessarily. Being busy can get you places, sure, but if you don't know what you're aiming for and what your busy-ness is achieving then it's probably time to stop; you're getting nowhere. Take a step back from what you're doing and ask yourself if it's really worth it. Most goals set by both yourselves and your bosses are arbitrary - think deeper into what is being asked of you and question whether the world would fall apart if it wasn't done. The answer? Probably not. Unfortunately we live a life where you're only as good as your last job and nobody is irreplaceable ... just what are you working so hard for and stressing yourself out over?

If you're used to a fast-paced lifestyle, how can you slip away from it all?

There are ways to escape from what you're going through, and the majority of it is subjective; some would rather go for a solitary escape out to the country while others choose to sit and fill their time with friends and family. It's completely up to you and what you make of it; you can sit and read articles like ' 108 Reasons Why Meditation Is So Beneficial' and ' 5 Ways to Unwind in 60 Seconds ', but unless you're actually putting them into practise then you're channeling good intentions into wasting time. Do something about it. Often we need clarity to realise the best we can make of a situation and to take a step back from it all. If you're reading about how to relax yourself and get yourself on track then you've already got the idea and resources in your head. Utilise them!

How can it be put into everyday life?

Sit. Think. Read a little, write a bit. If you are constantly looking to achieve peace, you will never find it; stop searching and it will come to you. The more energy you put into figuring out how to get to a feeling of calm, the more stress you will put yourself under as you see it as a goal. It's not an ending, just a journey. Make time for yourself and strip back to basics; there are so many reasons as to why you need to slow it down and start listening to yourself. Your own peace of mind is just the beginning.
