Sticke Altbier – Twin Sails Brewing

By Mike @mikescraftbeer

From Twin Sails Brewing in Port Moody comes their "Sticke Altbier" a variation on a Dusseldorf Altbier. The beer pours a deep reddish colour with a tan head. The aroma consists of toffee, malts, fruit, herbal, spices and sweetness. The flavour is of and spices. The alcohol content comes in at 5.7% with an IBU of 40. I will admit I do not know this style of beer well but I did enjoy the beer none the less. Is it on point for the style I am not sure but I would surly drink more of it.

Commercial Description: A stronger, hoppier variation of the traditional Dusseldorf Altbier. Twin Sails Sticke Alt pours a deep copper colour and is full of spice and herbal characters thanks to a generous helping of Noble hops. The German ale yeast provides a pleasant fruitiness that balances out the bitterness. After fermentation is complete, the brew is lagered for several weeks creating an ale that is big and complex with a smooth finish.
