What a summer this has been! Honestly, it flew by and I like everyone else cannot believe that it will be autumn in a week's time. One of the life lessons I re-learnt this summer was that I need to slow down and live in the moment and learn new things.
Hence, I am so excited to share about one my most favorite weekends spent at the Lansdowne Resort & Spa in Leesburg, Virginia. I was a guest of the hotel and had been invited to enjoy the property and everything it had to offer. It was an hour drive but I felt I was far away from the hustle of daily life and had whisked away to countryside. You can either read about my experience below, or view it by clicking here. Hotel Overview
Lansdowne Resort and Spa, A Destination Hotel, is a gem hidden between Northern Virginia Wine Country and the scenic Potomac river. It is easily accessible from Maryland & D.C. both. I could not believe that I had not known about it for all of the three plus years I have lived in this area. I got a chance to learn about the property and the stories around it's legacy while I was there and you know I am a big history buff! ' ... Dating back to 600 A.D., Algonquin Indians inhabited the current place along the banks of the Potomac River. Few hundred years later the land was owned by the influential Thomas Lee who once owned thousands of acres in Virginia, including the 300 acres that Lansdowne Resort sprawls. When he de dies, the land went to his widow Fanny. Established in 1758, the Assembly of Virginia selected Leesburg for the location of Loudoun County's courthouse. The town was named in honor of the Thomas Lee.'

Accommodation & Restaurants
The resort is newly renovated and that reflects in the accommodations. Our check-in was smooth and swift. We were in a Deluxe King Guestroom, on the fifth floor, which was spacious, over looking the golf course with modern decor and had amenities likebar carts employed as mini bars, wine cask nightstands, and coffee/tea maker.For the two days that we were there we had the opportunity to dine at three restaurants there. First was the Riverside Hearth where we devoured the hearty breakfast buffet both mornings. While the restaurant also serves lunch and dinner, we will have to come back to enjoy those.
Coton and Rye was our favorite, especially for it's rustic vibe. It is their new tavern and restaurant which has a happy hour everyday from 5 to 7pm and weekend live entertainment from 8pm onwards. Last but not the least, we had our final meal at Pub 46, which serves a country club–style cuisine and has the most stunning views of the golf courses and the Potomac River Valley.
One of the best spa experiences I have had

Truth be told, I was most excited about visiting the spa, over this weekend!It had been almost a year since my last spa visit and I was in much need for some relaxation. I am happy to inform that Spa Minérale did not disappoint. It was by far one of the best spa experiences, I have had, in the DMV area.
My husband and I chose couples' massage. We were ushered to the men's and women's lockers respectively, upon arrival. After we changed into the robes, we relaxed in a common lounge area. Since we had intentionally planned to arrive 30 minutes early, I carried a book to read while my husband enjoyed a glass of wine and some shut eye! We were then escorted to the massage room which was ambient with soft light and aroma. We enjoyed one of the most relaxing 90 minutes massage. If you live in the DMV area (or are the guest of the hotel) you MUST checkout their spa. We sure cannot wait to go back already.
Something unique at Spa Minérale is that they incorporate local Virginia wines into their signature facial, massage and nail treatment. While I didn't get a chance to experience that I am definitely intrigued enough to come back soon.

The most fun part of our staycation were the activities offered at the Lansdowne Resort and Spa. here is also a beautiful championship golf course and a well equipped fitness center.Saturday morning I did Yoga & Meditation, which was exactly what the doctor prescribed. There is absolutely no better way to start a day other than finding your 'center' in midst lush green views and clear air. Next morning I took a TRX class, which I had under estimated. I was not expecting the trainer to make us workout that hard on a Sunday morning. But I am so glad he did! It made me feel a lot less guilty about all the indulgences over the weekend. The resort is also in close proximity to various breweries, wineries and an outlet mall, which makes it quite an ideal location no matter what the purpose of your travel. Last but not the least, I have to mention the new hobby I picked up that weekend - Ping Pong! I had never played it before and when my husband asked me to give it a shot, to his surprise I said yes! And then we spent good three hours on Friday, two hours on Saturday and then a good 40 minutes (after the killer TRX class) on Sunday, playing Ping Pong. This particular weekend, restored my trust in a quality staycation. Excellent location, gracious service, attentive staff with numerous activities and events makes Lansdowne Resort & Spa a must-visit destination.
