Sports Science Exhibition Opens

A sports science exhibition opened at the Ice Rink in Pyongyang on 19 November (Tuesday).  A ceremony opening the exhibition was held and attended by Ri Jong Mu (Minister of Physical Culture and Sports), “officials concerned, scientists and technicians in the field of physical culture and sports and officials in charge of science and technology for sports teams.”  Ri Jong Mu delivered a speech in which he said “progress has been made in the work to contrive and develop valuable computer programs, sports apparatuses and medicines conducive to the development of the nation’s sports thanks to the devoted efforts of scientists and technicians across the country” and “called upon the participants to put all sports processes on an IT and scientific basis, explore new areas of sports science and technology and thereby contribute to exalting the dignity and honor of Chuch’e Korea.”  After the ceremony participants toured the exhibition which, according to KCNA, included “at least 140 computer programs, more than 120 scientific measuring apparatuses and sports apparatuses and many sports medicines and nutrients produced by over 110 units.”
