Spielbergs – ‘Running All the Way Home’

Following numerous festival appearances and a UK tour with Foxing, Norway’s favorite alt-anthem trip Spielbergs are following up one of the albums of 2019 with a new EP called ‘Running All the Way Home’ (out on 25 October via By the Time It Gets Dark Records – pre-order here) – and they’ve also shared the title track for your listening pleasure.

The track evokes the anthems of alternative ’90s indie in a similar way to bands like Dinosaur Pile-up, Japandroids and Beach Slang as Mads Baklien lays his heart on the line amidst fist-punching guitar hooks, brooding bass and buoyant drums: ‘I don’t want to be worthless, just let me go back to the start. I am feeling useless, just let me go back to the start. I need to go back to the start’ A love song of sorts, the lyrics find Mads pining for someone (‘You’re everything I ever need, if you would just come back to me’) before then deciding to be the bigger person: ‘If you ever forget me, I promise to let you go, I need to let you go. And if you ever betray me, I promise to let it go’.
