Sometimes – ‘That’s Just Life’

Posted on the 11 May 2020 by Spectralnights

Hailing from Bristol, Sometimes are a new band featuring members of Lonely the Brave, Black Foxxes and Meadowlark and they have now shared their debut single ‘That’s Just Life’.

Inspired by singer and guitarist Daniel Broadley’s experiences with mental health and the ways in which it can be triggered, the opaque, hazy nature of the song blends the fuzzy hooks of the finest bands of the early-mid 2000s (Hell is for Heroes, Hundred Reasons etc) with the shoegazing sensibilities of Ride. It also has a burst of impassioned emo stylings, especially when Daniel ponders how his mind is ‘trying to tell me something, maybe it’s listening to all the dumb things that I say’ and makes observations about serotonin and fevers before settling on the statement: ‘That’s just life, hey?’
