If you look closely at the pot it says ‘super-translucent mattifying power (for all skin tones)’. For someone who has oily skin this is actually music to my ears. I don’t want a powder which will make me look radiant or dewy, I just want one where it looks like I have some sort of control over my oily skin, but doesn’t look cake-y or powdery. This one, in that respect, is ideal. Find out why.
This compact is great because it comes with a mirror and a little puff, and it’s translucent meaning you don’t have to take ages finding a powder which will match your skin tone. Soap and Glory have created a powder which will essentially act as blotting paper, soaking up any excess oil on your face and preventing too much additional oil from forming. It does this without clogging pores or looking powdery, flakey or caked-on. The finish is subtle, but instantly takes away shine. It’s also soft, spreads well and evenly, and doesn’t look blotchy.
I haven’t tried any products from the Soap and Glory brand before so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. They seem like a fun brand and like they actually understand what you might want from your make up, all in a retro and pun-tastic coating. Although this powder comes in at £12 I’m not entirely sure if it’s worth that because it doesn’t last for a particularly long time, but I do like that it can be topped up easily and as often as necessarily. As such I’ve seemed to have used a lot of powder in a relatively short amount of time. If it concealed well, or evened out skin tone better than it does then I think it might be worth the money, but as it is I think it’s verging on a little overpriced. I’ve also generally found mineral loose powders to be better at holding grease at bay, although granted, One Heck of a Blot is a lot less messy than most loose powders!
I will continue to use it until it’s finished because fundamentally there isn’t anything wrong with it. I just would have preferred a mattifying powder with a better staying power, but I reckon people with normal or combination skin will mostly be fine with this. Better yet, go to your local Boots as they have a tester and try it out for yourself. Let me know what you think!
