And from the background comes the deep, new found baritone-esque voice of sweet child , "I want Smilies too."
And we mums being the spoil sports that we are , deny them this small happiness just a few hours after their dinner.
It was a perfectly healthy-Ok boring dinner. And it took so long to get the cribbing family to eat it.
And despite force feeding and watching "Chota Bheem" on the telly, that meal seems to have become inconsequential.
So now what do the sisters on holiday do?
Dig out that package of assorted snacks from the freezer.
No deep frying ,we are in a quest for less oil utopia.
So with just a few drops of oil on a non stick pan ,we plonk the entire package of McCain Smilies. With a lid on and on medium low heat ,we turn the Smilies once over and in 12-15 minutes they are ready to serve.
While the kids are being entertained by the grandparents, we sisters are busy gossiping around the gas stove...
First one smilie each while discussing how we bever get ti eat all that we want to,because of the children, we realize that we have already polished off half the Smilies.
Giggling in guilty pleasure, we open the second pack... french fries and garlic potato bites.
So a little bit of unhealthy oil -deep frying. French fries deserve to be fried. Thats why the potatoes endured the chipping process, so that they could be loving fried.
And the compromise? The potato bites in the air fryer.
Beautiful aromas invade the air conditioning too... both the cousins come running out...

And those accusing looks at us... because we almost finished the Smilies.
Who wont be happy eating those smiling faces...

There's a tug of war going on between the cousins for the fries...
Divide.
Dunk them in ketchup or green chutney. ..
But hey,you'll never guess what magic the cousins make with the smilies?
Chocolate Smilies.
Yes ..the smilies, were frozen for a few minutes while the chocolate was melted to just warm and the kids dunked the smilie into the melted chocolate.
Slightly salty, crisp and cold, and then dipped into hot chocolate.
Awesome.

And hey the plate is empty again. We were asked to frost the Smilies à la the
McCainIndia tv advertisement, but we have to tell you that it can only be done where there are no children to devour them before you frost them.
The next best thing to insane self happiness bringing smiles is Spreading the smiles is the lives of people whose happiness matters to you.
And a smiling potato face with just at the prime of rosebud pink cheek health is a yummy smilie.
That's just as smug as having your smile and eating it too.
