Sleepy Kitty, Dreamy & Gritty ...

St Louis duo, Sleepy Kitty, are yet another one that we'd like to propel your way. These two are well and truly capable of making a raw, mystical, but punkier-than-the-average single which will get you rebelling against all that suppress you. Their latest single, Don't You Start, does exactly the above, and will, we reckon, be an aid to your day.
Sleepy Kitty, Dreamy & Gritty ...Like a much more impressive, and much more interesting stab at the same sort of thing Kate Nash tried to pull on us last year, Sleepy Kitty will immediately entice you with their unusual name. You're gonna be in the frame of mind that they're a little Indie band whom are trying to have their 5 minutes ... but we'd like you to usher those pre-conceptions away and realize that this dream-punk band are nothing but here to stay for the foreseeable.
Like something that we believe compares to Best Coast, PYYRAMIDS, Kate Nash (although millions of times more impressive), and even at times, like Janelle Monae, this sweet little track, though not the most garish, will most definitely kick you in the head. You won't know what's hit you and, considering that it is very much a female fronted ensemble, and a two-person job, it oozes plenty of talent, a lot of grittiness, and whole heap of what we'd like to hear more of.
There's an anthemic nature to it all when the chorus comes in, and we'd hope you'll agree. Something about the guitars, and their effects, really speaks to us like some of the rock greats of the past ten years, meaning that we can see this going global. Alongside that, the vocals are totally on point, whilst evidently not being tampered with, and the crashing drums that really aim to please ... all work together in some sort of miracle concoction. Genius.
Paul.
