Lily Myers, of Wesleyan University, performing at the 2013 College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational talks about a history of “shrinking women” in her family. The women becoming smaller and more apologetic for the space they take up and for their body image in general as the men in their lives grow bigger.
Not my usual humor post, but I’ve been in relationships in the past where I began to feel apologetic for taking up space. I thought this was a really moving piece.
This piece was awarded Best Love Poem in the tournament.
