Wes Anderson The Grand Budapest Hotel

Wes Anderson, the brilliant mind behind award wining movies such as The Royal Tenenbaums, Moonrise Kingdom and Fantastic Mr. Fox amazes movie goers again with The Grand Budapest Hotel. The American film director and screenwriter has been known to deliver visual spectacles and a unique narrative style that capture audiences the world over.

In The Grand Budapest Hotel, Wes Anderson brings onboard his favorites Jason Schwartzman and Owen Wilson, along with brilliant stars like Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Jude Law, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton and HP's Lord Voldemort himself (also, Commandant Amon Goeth from Schindler's List) , Ralph Fiennes.

A place for everything, and everything in its place.

Ralph Fiennes' character, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel bonds with lobby boy Zero Moustafa in a highly-stylized story involving theft, love and family inheritances. According to Fiennes, “With The Grand Budapest Hotel, Wes has created a true caper comedy with disguises and chases and escapes, yet there’s always that bittersweet undertone that is so distinctive. His films always have this idiosyncratic lightness of touch inside which lie strong themes and emotions. It’s an unusual blend that no one else can repeat because it comes from inside Wes, from his personal sense of humor and perception of the world.”

Fiennes holds Anderson in such a high esteem, that the actor even goes as far as to say, “Wes is exacting with his actors in a very positive way. He’s always refining a moment until it has just the right feel, the right lightness. Speed of delivery is something he really values because this kind of material needs that kind of liveliness. Ultimately, he created his own made-up time and world where people are braver, more principled and have more fun.”

Symmetry in beauty, and a touch of 30s class

Peer into Wes Anderson's mind and watch the complete visual aesthetic of a film in April! The movie itself is described as portraying 20th Century Eastern Europe, with the story set against a swirling backdrop of a fascist takeover in the 30s and a Communist period after that.

Stand-out act: Characters in beautiful fire-engine red and royal purple.
