Ryley Walker’s ‘The Roundabout’ is Saturated with Reflective Contemplation [Stream]

Ryley Walker’s “The Roundabout” is an acoustic tune which appears blithe and untroubled, but upon further inspection, is actually saturated with reflective contemplation. The piece surrounds the perfunctory instinctiveness in daily life, but also looks back on day to day thoughts, conversations and grievances and makes sense of these commonplace occurrences. Walker’s voice is calm and pensive, but far from resigned as he ponders his own experiences and memories in a new light. The acoustic guitar and diminutive nature of the drums develop the backstory even further. Through the steady instrumentals and introspective lyrics, “The Roundabout” illustrates the meandering nature of life and the quotidian decisions we make that develop our consciousness.
