Running Clothes: Not Too Runny Please

By Nicoleao @momfever

running shoeI care about how I look as a woman and a mom. And I care about what I look like as a runner.

Not too ‘runny’ please

One of my criteria, when I’m out there buying running clothes, is that they shouldn’t look too ‘runny’. Because if they look too much like running clothes I feel like that girl on the ski slopes… You know the one: she can’t ski her way out of an après ski bar, but she’s all decked out in the latest and greatest ski attire there is available. I don’t want to be thát girl.

So I go for a more modest look. One that doesn’t scream: ‘I’m a Real Runner’ so much. Although sometimes I go too far, and people mistake me for a walker! So I’m always on the look out for great running clothes that are júúst right. I also like running shoes, but buying them is no fun, because I have to buy the ones the Shoe Guy tells me to.

ActivInstinct

Yesterday I was surfing the web, and I instinctively landed on ActivInstinct where I found these lovely, brightly coloured shoes. But sure enough, they’re just for neutral runners, so I can’t have them. They also had heart monitors and bags! Now those bags particularly interested me, because ‘what possible use could a runner have for bags’?’ I wondered. But when I clicked on the link things started to make sense. These were bags you can strap on your back, and some came with a whole hydration system, so you can drink while you’re on the run.

I almost feel like I want to buy me one of those bags. Almost. Because if I strapped one of those bags on me, then I would most definitely become thát girl…
