Rimmel 9 in 1 BB CreamI’m a fan of the Rimmel brand (as a whole) because they have a really good selection and their products are so reasonably priced. As such it didn’t take much persuasion to buy their BB 9-in-1 cream. It comes in 2 shades; light and medium and my skin tone matches quite well with the light shade. There were 3 testers of each shade in Boots (part of the Rimmel BB cream launch I’m assuming), and each of the 3 testers for the same shade had a slightly different color. This did make me apprehensive about buying the cream because I couldn’t predict the outcome of the shade exactly, but thankfully the one I chose matched well.

The things I like about the BB cream is that it does a whopping 9 different things! It:

- primes
- covers
- conceals
- moisturises
- minimises pores
- brightens
- protects
- smoothes
- mattifies

Quite an impressive list! They aren’t all strictly true, but the cream has SPF25 which makes it the perfect Summer companion, and year round skin protection solution. The reason that list isn’t strictly true, though, is because I didn’t find that it primes, mattifies or covers particularly well. I found the cream a little greasy. I don’t know if it has oil in it but I thought it actually gave my skin a shine which is exactly what I do not want. I also don’t think it dries particularly well because my skin felt dewy for quite some time after application, and it was really difficult to apply make up on top of it unless it’s a light powder. The shine also exaggerated the bags under my eyes, so I would suggest using this cream in targeted places and not as a base to cover your whole face.

The color of the BB cream seemed to rid my skin tone of any life or color because the liquid is quite thick and possibly a little too pale for my skin tone. It covers over natural shadows which some may like, but I like foundations which are less thick. It did get rid of darker marks making it a good concealer replacement, but you do need to blend the cream in quite rigorously to get a nice even coverage. As such, it’s not fantastic for a quick application, and a flip lid would have application even quicker, but I appreciate that that’s being picky.

So those are the cons, but there are pros too. Once you have rubbed the cream in well you are left with smooth-looking skin without unwanted red marks. You’ll have skin which appears brightened and more fresh. The smell of the cream is really nice too because it smells of sun cream. The SPF25, as mentioned earlier, is a huge bonus for protecting your skin, and the moisturising element leaves skin feeling soft and protected. You can still apply light powders on top of this BB cream for a more natural finish, and then blusher on top of the powder, but the staying power isn’t fantastic if you have greasy skin. Lastly, the 30ml tube will last you a long time because you don’t need much of the cream each time you use it, so your £6.99 tube will last several months. However I probably wouldn’t buy it again because I think there are other creams and foundations which mattify, cover and moisturise better than this Rimmel 9 in 1 BB cream.
