Boots 17 Lasting Fix Lipstick £4.29/429 Advantage Card points
I've been a boring old soul and wearing a lot of nude/coral/blue toned pink lipstick recently, so when I was recently swatching some lippies in Boots, I decided to be brave and go a little darker. I am already a long-term user of their Mirror Shine and Supreme Shine lines, alongside their Ultimate Volume lipgloss, so decided to wander into the territory of Lasting Fix, which for some reason had never caught my eye before.
Mulled Wine is a warm toned, dark reddy pink. It's well pigmented and has a lovely creamy consistency, which makes application a nice and easy experience. I can't quite think of a word to describe the finish - I suppose it's semi-matte more than anything (can you tell I am not the best at describing lipsticks? Aha) I am always dubious about 'lasting fix' claims as I believe lipstick will only stay as perfect as the moment you swiped it on if you don't talk, eat, drink or breathe for the next 8 hours. Of course, that would be a totally stupid thing to do. However, it does retain its color for a long time and isn't drying on the lips, which is a win-win situation for me.
I have worn this color in the daytime and evening as I believe it's suitable for both occasions if worn with the right outfit, so £4.29 is a well justifiable investment if you feel like trying out a new shade that fits in with the hues of A/W '12!
