Story: Rebel starts as we see how Kamal Wasaki (Bensaihi) gets drawn into a rebel group in Syria. Joined by other members that have left their own countries to join the cause. He finds himself married to Leila (Azabal) and sees the reason why they are fighting.
As Kamal sees what they do, he starts to question whether it is right. This leads him to go against the soldiers he is meant to fight alongside, putting his own life and his family’s lives in danger, when his own son gets recruited.
Verdict on Rebel
Rebel is an action drama that shows the harsh reality of getting caught up in the middle of the war in Syria. It shows how people can be plucked from innocent paths and thrown into a conflict. Along with the devastating consequences it can have on families.
This is a hard-hitting realistic look at how brutal the war in Syria has become. Showing that not everyone involved is given a choice on whether they will battle in it. Nothing is held back on when it comes to showing what even the children must go through. The performances help show us the harsh reality that nobody would want to imagine living through.
