Rangers Neutral-zone Domination the Difference in Game 6

By Kicks @Chrisboucher73
The New York Rangers simply owned the neutral-zone at even-strength during their game 6 win over the Montreal Canadiens.
The Rangers outperformed the Habs in the neutral-zone both offensively, and defensively; thereby making it almost impossible for Montreal to create any offense from their transition-game. This neutral-zone success translated directly into scoring-chances, as the Rangers averaged 21.3 even-strength scoring-chances per-60 in game 6, while Montreal averaged an even 6.
NEUTRAL-ZONE RATING AND RATIOS
The numbers here relate to each team's play in the neutral-zone. These numbers reflect the amount of successful and failed plays each team made in the neutral-zone. The ratio indicates the number of successful plays produced for every 1 failed play.
As shown, the Rangers made an incredible 3.71 successful plays in the neutral-zone for every 1 unsuccessful play. Montreal's neutral-zone ratio was only 2.53 successful plays per-failed play. The Rangers were slightly more involved in the neutral-zone with 0.80 events per-minute, while their neutral-zone rating of 0.46 was substantially higher than Montreal's rating of 0.34. Ratings communicate how many more successful plays than failed plays each team contributed per-minute played.
Each team's takeaway to turnover ratio speaks volumes about their neutral-zone performance in game 6. New York produced an incredible 3.44 neutral-zone takeaways for every 1 turnover, while the Habs were only able to produced 1.89 takeaways per-turnover.

NEUTRAL-ZONE PLAYS WITH POSSESSION
An offensive-touch represents any play made while in possession of the puck. In this case, it includes only those plays made in the neutral-zone. Events used in this calculation include; east/west passes, north/south passes, open-ice dekes, wall dekes, dump-ins, and chip-ins.
The Rangers attempted fewer neutral-zone puck-possession plays during game 6, but were far more successful than the Canadiens. Montreal's neutral-zone puck-possession success-rate was 63.9%, while the Rangers was 74.5%. Expressed differently, this indicates that the Habs turned the puck over 36.1% of the time they made a possession play in the neutral-zone during game 6, while the Rangers neutral-zone turnover-rate was only 25.5%.
