Postcards From Braga

By Gail Aguiar @ImageLegacy

Braga, Portugal (13)

The city of Braga is Portugal’s seventh largest by population and a hub for the northern region, home to the University of Minho and the oldest Archdiocese in the country (hence the large Baroque churches). Located about 60km northeast of Porto, it’s an ancient city with Celtic origins and was once a major Galician city during the Roman Empire.

I visited Braga for the first time a year ago when we took our couchsurfer sightseeing, a day trip that included Guimarães. We didn’t arrive in Braga until late in the afternoon, the timing of which sent me scurrying around town trying to capture whatever I could before it got too dark to photograph.

See more photos of that day in the album.
