Pitch Perfect 2 (2015) Review

The Barden Bellas have done pretty well in the past three years, that’s until Fat Amy comes in like a wrecking ball at an event at the Lincoln Centre for the President.

Now this will probably come as quite a shock due to my love of musicals and Glee, but I was not a big fan of the first film at all. But I decided to give this one a chance to see if I liked it any better than the first and so on. To cut a long story short I wasn’t a big fan of this film either, I just don’t think it’s my time of humor at all and too silly at times. That’s just my opinion of course, I know a lot of people who love these films.

Everything is Aca with this film and don’t get me wrong I love the idea of the mash ups and singing competitions, hello I am still a Gleek after all. Maybe I am missing something with these? I don’t really know haven’t been able to work it out at all. I thought some of the jokes or attempted jokes between Gail and John were very bad taste and offensive.

So while the Bellas were banned from A cappella competitions in the US they could actually compete at the World championships. So basically everything in the film is a build up to this as some of them struggle to deal with leaving college and what they are going to do with life after. I did quite like the bonding sessions to try and bring them all back together as like with any team this needs to happen.

But don’t worry I didn’t actually find the Bellas to be the most annoying group in the film at all, that award certainly goes to the German team. The two main people in that were truly annoying and you could not get away with them at all, honestly awful and the acting certainly matched that as well.

I did quite enjoy seeing Hailee Steinfeld taking on a different kind of role to what she has usually taken on was pretty good. She carried off the awkwardness very very well, but still managed to be likeable with her character. That was not nearly enough for me to want to see any more though. The way it was left . . . wide open for Pitch Perfect 3. I am sure it will continue as the box office will probably be very good.

Disappointment is probably the best way to leave this review, as people had told me it was better than the first.
