Story: Peppergrass starts when Eula (Han) and Morris (Boyland) look to travel across the country to rob a reclusive veteran Captain Reuben Lom (Copeman). They are risking their own health during a pandemic, but they need the money to survive.

When the plan goes wrong, Morris gets injured, and Eula must go in search of help. However, she doesn’t know the area and starts to learn more about the man they tried to rob.

Verdict on Peppergrass

Peppergrass is a survival thriller following two friends that looks to rob a reclusive veteran. Only, they learn he hasn’t forgotten all the tricks he knew and now they become the hunted. This leads them down a path of surviving in an area they don’t know against a hunter that is waiting for them to make a mistake.

The movie looks to use uncertainty within a pandemic era. This brings us to a couple that needs money and will do something to make sure they get it. However, it does seem to end up spending a lot of time in the darkness. We lack too much happening expect wandering around the woods. The tension feels missing for the impact needed. This is despite having solid performances throughout the film, it is the suspense that feels missing.

Final Thoughts – Peppergrass is a movie that lacks the suspense it could easily have.
