Plot: After his wife is forced to give up 40 years of her life as payment for an insurance debt, a man desperately searches for a way to get them back.

Story: Paradise starts as we meet Max (Ulimann) who works for AEON a company that lets you sell time in your life for huge amounts of money. He recruits donors that can help further the wealthy’s life. Sophie Theisson is the mastermind behind the technology. However, when the ADAM project attacks the clinic and threatens to kill anyone who has bought youth through the clinic.

However, when Max and his wife Elena lose their apartment, they lose everything. To make matters worse Elena had put up her own time to cover any potential loss of income and now she owes 40 years. Max sets out on a mission to demand answers after his wife has the years taken from her and only makes a startling discovery.

Verdict on Paradise

Paradise is an action sci-fi thriller following a man who once worked for a shady company seeking revenge against them. It follows his rise through the company and the aftermath of what happened to his wife. However, it puts them through a difficult situation to solve the changes in his life.

This is a movie that feels like a mix of a couple of compelling sci-fi movies, Equilibrium, In Time and Repo Men. It offers up a massive moral question about what is right with potential changes in technology. While bringing us a story that keeps us on edge, waiting to see what the next disturbing decision will be made.

This does create a well-flushed-out world, where the time selling and trading feel like it has become normal. It manages to make each decision feel like a major moral one, blurring the lines between what is right and wrong for every character we meet. By the end of this movie, you will be ticking about what you would do in the same situation.
