Paleo Dessert Recipes:

Sweet Cookie Dough Dip

This is quick and easy to throw together, and is one of those desserts the kids will go crazy for! It tastes just like raw cookie dough but without all those unwanted ingredients the conventional dip would have in there. We are combining almond flour with butter, raw honey and maple syrup, and adding salt and vanilla to balance out the flavor. You can either mix nuts, dates, chocolate chips or candies into the dip or you can use them to decorate the top (or both if you like a lot of different textures!)

Because you are only stirring the ingredients together, this is quick and easy to prepare. It is good with apple wedges but would also be nice with sugar-free banana chips, strawberries or grapes. You can put small fruit like grapes on toothpicks for dipping. This is quite a thick dip and it holds together well, so something else you can do with the dough is roll it into small bowls then keep them refrigerated, then grab a couple whenever you want an energy boost or sweet snack.

This dough recipe is egg-free so you don’t have to worry about consuming raw eggs. The ingredients used also make it suitable for sitting out for a while so if you want something to take to a potluck or outdoor party this would be great for everyone – paleo eaters and those who enjoy a sweet snack every now and then. Serving fresh fruit with it means this otherwise sinful (but yummy) dessert offers additional nutrients.

Ingredients:

2 cups blanched almond flour
1/4 cup raw honey
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup butter or non-hydrogenated palm shortening
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
Almonds, dates, raw chocolate chips or paleo-friendly candies, to decorate (optional)
Wedges of fresh apple, to dip

Method:

Mix the almond flour with the honey, maple syrup, butter or shortening, salt and vanilla extract until well combined. Next fold in any toppings if you want to incorporate them in the dip. Now transfer the mixture to a serving bowl and add any decorations or toppings you like. Serve with apple wedges on the side.
