Our Piri-Piri Bounty

Casa Aguiar piri-piris

As you can see, Harvest 2015 is going well. It’s the middle of October and this plant keeps churning out the piri piri peppers. The truth is, we are terrible balcony farmers and anything that manages to stay alive here has proven to be incredibly self-reliant.

Ice has grown out of his digging phase, we think, and thus far killed only one balcony plant. He waited until the coast was clear: I got a text on my birthday (in Malta) from the housesitter informing me that he found the contents of a box planter strewn around the living room, and it was apparently Ice’s way of wishing me a happy birthday. Meanwhile, Ice later chewed the housesitter’s glasses. One day, maybe Ice will learn his lesson by trying to eat a piri piri and then never destroy anything again. Here’s hoping!
