Hello Metalheads! I bring you today a fantastic Spanish Metal band from Vizcaya which has released in October 2010 an amazing debut album entitled “A New Dark Apology”. I’m talking about Orion Child, a Metal band which practices a Power Metal with touches of Death and Black Metal very cool and highly recommended.
Orion Child was born in Durango (Vizcaya) and the current line-up was established in 2006 with Victor on vocals, Daedin on guitars, Jonkol on keyboards and backing vocals, Mingo on bass, Jandro on drums and Jones on guitars and Death Growls. After a first demo in late 2008, these guys recorded their first studio album “A New Dark Apology” at NewLife Studios in Madrid, which was mastered at Finnvox Studios by Mika Jussila in Finland.
“A New Dark Apology” is amazing Metal album in which we can find a great Power Metal sound mixed with some other elements from styles like Death Metal or Black Metal, as a result we can enjoy a fantastic Dark Power Metal with a powerful sound, fantastic guitars, great melodies, melodic and growly voices and awesome keywords. I think Orion Child has really an original Metal sound which I absolutely like and recommend to all Metal fans.
With this awesome and powerful sound it is no wonder that “A New Dark Apology” album received several awards like “Heavy Metal Best Album” of Spain in 2010, in the independent music awards granted by UFI (Independent Phonographic Union). The band was Semifinalist in the Wacken:O:A Metal Battle Spain 2012 and Semifinalist in the “XXIV Pop-Rock Villa de Bilbao 2012″, as well as Winner of Wolfest 2012 (Bilbao).
All this recognition is not in vain, you only have to listen to “A New Dark Apology” album to realize that Orion Child is a great Metal band with an incredible sound. Definitively, the album is a fantastic release with a very good sound and production, and I think it’s really a demolisher debut album from these Basque guys.
“A New Dark Apology” album starts with an evocative and dark intro with orchestral arrangements very cool, giving way to “Slave Of The Dark”, a powerful track with fantastic guitars, growly vocals and a nice atmospheric sound. “Faraway” is an awesome song with some Progressive Metal touches and fantastic choruses and “Ilmariel” has a great melody so epic and dark!
“Your Blood In My Hands” is another great track with fantastic guitar solos and “Nightmare” is a demolisher song with a dark and powerful sound very cool. I also recommend “Eclipse” with nice keywords and fantastic vocals or “Revenge” with an awesome starting and a great Power Metal sound.
The final song “Tragedy Of Souls” is a track with cool vocals and a great Dark Power Metal sound with fantastic growls and powerful keywords and guitar solos. Really we are front an amazing debut album full of great Metal compositions which I recommend you to listen.
