One Year Kokidokom Anniversary

It all started on a hot summer day in June…and I had nothing better to do…

Short Story: All I did was decide WP.com was insufficient, did a bit of asking around, and sent in an application to become a part of the Kokido Kombine.

Long Story: I had admittedly been thinking about getting hosting back in March last year. Of course, in getting hosting there comes a few more worries, but with school and the Aniblog Tourney coming along I didn’t think on it much. Then I finally was done with school. Aniblog Tourney had been just about finished. With little to worry about until the Fall arrived, I started to think about where the site was going to go. It started out as an idea with someone I knew at school, and then it changed to a point where I started to realize WP.com’s limitations. So this was when I started taking a look around at potential options and what to do. I didn’t do a detailed research, but took some days to research options, and talked to a few people. That was when I decided that at this point, it would be best to go get free hosting, and all that led to me contacting 7th, and the rest is history.

And now we celebrate our one year anniversary. Ok, ok technically the website was up by the end of June (just needed to actually fix things). And really, the anniversary was supposed to happen June 14, when, you know, the site actually went live. But Kokidokom ended up moving servers. Oh well! But we’re celebrating it now.

So did the move turn out to work out after all? Hmm, I’d say it’s allowed a lot more freedom than if I’ve stayed on WP.com (like getting information, teh theme!, plugins, etc), but I’m not sure the affect of being on Kokidokom has changed anything. But I expect that to change on our 2 year anniversary in 2014, and that was kind of the goal in the first place. Or one of the goals. I think!

Anyways, we’ve had some things stay, we’ve had some things go, but the direction we’re going in is pretty fun, as we’ll have all the bases of Japanese Pop Culture covered on Organization ASG. I hope you’ll join us for that fun!
