Old Amica – ‘Condensation’

New signings to our friends over at Fox Food Records, Old Amica are a Swedish duo who make spellbinding folk-tinged music with the help of the internet as they are separated by 750km. They’ve now shared ‘Condensation’ and two other tracks (‘Julia, Umea’ and ‘Juli, Goteborg’) from their upcoming fifth album ‘Constellation’ – which you can pre-order here.

The genteel atmospherics are complemented by poetic lyrics as the band ‘try to discern hope in the vulgar present’ by focusing on the beauty of nature and its colours: ‘Green and blue fall upon me, they glimmer and illuminate’; ‘From above, you could see it for miles, stretching out and floating the fields’.

As the song progresses through its six and a half minutes, extra vocals and subtle bursts of piano are added into the mix in a way that is poignant but never overbearing. Around the four-minute mark, everything is turned up a notch with bass sounds and electronic beats helping make the band’s point in sublime fashion.
