March 2010

A Super Sabre on display in Freedom park, located on Nellis Air Force Base.  The first of the famed Century Series of fighters, the F-100 was the first U.S. Air Force fighter to exceed the speed of sound in level flight and was also used by the USAF Thunderbirds for 12 years.  This aircraft was delivered in 1956 and saw combat in Vietnam with the 355th TFS.  This airframe (55-3595) is painted to represent 56-3298 which was based at Nellis. The original 56-3298 was converted to a QF-100D target drone and destroyed.  Nikon D70s w/35-70mm.
