No One by Cold.

I listened to this song a lot in 8th grade. I’m reminded of two people: my first boyfriend and my best friend (who I’ve since lost touch with) who moved away after high school began. I didn’t realize it until today but the theme of this song has to do with the same thing, being left behind and feeling alone. I guess I never paid attention to the lyrics, it was all about the emotions that the music gave me.

No One was released as a single in April of 2001 from the album, 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage. It went to #13 on Billboard’s Alternative chart but never entered the Hot 100. Lead singer Scooter Ward wrote the song about his mother who lost touch with her friends when they moved away. She was a single mom and had him at a young age, so she was taking on a lot more responsibility than most of her peers at the time.

In 2002, the song was featured on the soundtrack for the movie, A Walk to Remember starring Mandy Moore and Shane West.
