Don't you just love, when on the rare occasion, it gets to payday and you have a few spare pennies left over? This happened to me this month, and although I should probably have been sensible and saved, it had been a stressful week and I ended up succumbing and spending instead. Sometimes you just have to treat yourself!
Top of my list of things to try was this gorgeous Joues Contraste Powder Blush in 'Jersey' from Chanel. I like to describe it is being MAC 'Velvet Teddy' in blush form - a very soft brown with a rosy hint, combining beautiful, finely milled flecks of rose gold shimmer throughout. I'm hoping it will be perfect for the upcoming festive season and can see it rising to the top of my favourites list in no time.
There aren't many purples in my extensive nail polish collection, and as I am yet to try any of the Nails Inc Gel Effect Nail Polish shades I picked up this one in 'Kensington Highstreet' - a lovely deep berry color perfect for this time of year. It will be interesting to see whether the claims of them being super glossy and opaque from one coat will turn out to be true - will be sure to report back!
Continuing with the berry theme, after seeing the lovely Anna wearing MAC's 'Beet' Lip Pencil in one of her latest videos, I knew immediately that I had to have it. It's a sort of deep red but with a hint of raspberry that makes it very unique and sets it apart from anything else I have spotted on the shelves. Then, on the flip side of the lip spectrum, I also made my first Bobbi Brown lipstick purchase - their Creamy Matte Lip Colour in 'Tawny Pink'. Again, I saw Ingrid - another of my favorite YouTubers wearing this and it really stood out to me, especially as it is such a neutral/office friendly shade and contains that dusky/mauve-y hint that I am so fond of.
Then finally, I took a quick trip to Boots and whilst I was mooching around, remembered that Max Factor had a new range of cream eyeshadows out. The 'Excess Shimmer' Eyeshadows may sound scary, but that's exactly what they are - shimmer, not glitter thus not too OTT. I couldn't resist this beautiful deep bronze (aptly though not so inventively named 'Bronze') from the line as I am a sucker for any burnished brown shades.
I haven't had a chance to try out any of my new purchases yet but will be sure let you know how they perform when I do. Is there anything on your list of things to try at the moment that I should be adding to my wishlist?
