My Laser Eye Surgery with Optimax: The Day After Surgery

Posted on the 03 May 2012 by Lisagray @juicysatsuma
Today I’ll be telling you how I felt the day after my laser eye surgery. I woke up with strange stiff eyelashes which were stuck together! It was a bit weird but they it wasn’t hard to pry them apart. I also had a weird white flakiness around my eyes which I’m guessing is from the eye drops that I have to take every couple of hours. I dipped some gauze in cooled boiled water and used that to gently clean this flakiness away.
My eyes felt sensitive to light for about 15 minutes after waking but then I was fine for the rest of the day. It was a gloriously sunny day so I kept my sunglasses on even though I was indoors, just to be on the safe side!
I had a gritty feeling in both eyes for most of the day. It felt like I had an old contact lense in, which I did (my bandage lenses) so I guess that’s not surprising! It was very manageable though and not painful.
I occasionally had watery eyes but so infrequently that it’s barely worth mentioning. My vision was much sharper and much less milky than the day before. I also felt on a fantastic high all day! I still couldn’t quite believe I’d actually went through with the surgery! I was so happy with how I was recovering. I’d been told repeatedly that recovery from lasek is considerably worse and more painful than lasik but so far it was all very manageable. I could watch TV for 30 minutes or so at a time before I felt the need to rest my eyes. I had expected to be bedridden all day!
I’ll be back tomorrow to tell you how I got on 2 days after surgery!
