My Final Post

By Meachrm @BaseballBTYard
My final postEver see the movie Forrest Gump when he just stops running in the desert? “Anyway, like I was saying, I had a lot of company. Mama always said, ‘Put the past behind you before you can move on.’ And I think that’s what my running was all about. I had run for three years, 2 months, 14 days, and 16 hours. I’m pretty tired. Think I’ll go home now.” – Forrest Gump

This will be my last new post for Baseball By The Yard.

It’s been 8 years, 1 month, and 2 days.  1,386 posts.  288 videos.  I’m pretty tired.  Think I’ll stop posting now.

The game of baseball is like no other.  It has brought me a great deal of satisfaction and happiness.  It has taken me to great places and has introduced me to a ton of great people.  It’s brought me a lot of pain as well.  Play the game long enough and you’ll have a lot of both as well.  It’s just how the game works.

I think my website was my way of working through all that.  It’s time I move on to other things.  Don’t worry, though.  The website itself will continue to exist so the content is going nowhere.  There just won’t be new content.

I’ve received many emails over the years from parents, coaches, and players asking for help or advice in various areas of the game.  Feel free to keep sending those emails.  I will be glad to help if I can.

I can’t thank enough all the people who took the time out of their day to visit the site to see what new things I had to say about the game.  It’s very humbling to think that people thought what I had to say was worth reading or watching.

I wish all of you the best of luck on your baseball journey.

Coach Bob McCreary
