#music Lana Del Rey - West Coast

Many wrote Lana Del Rey off before she had even released the hype-driven single Video Games never mind the album or anything that has come since. I didn't. I saw past the craziness that followed her rise to fame, the myths, the tales didn't matter, I wanted some great pop songs on the New Yorker more than delivered. Born To Die is flawless, still. The Tropico EP had some moments of brilliance as did her mini-movie whilst the lead single for The Great Gatsby film, Young and Beautiful was a gentle reminder that she was still in existence even if the buzz had quietened.

So how does one follow up one of the most successful debuts ever? Should she stick to the same formula? Why change something that has worked so well... Lana is no one trick pony, we knew that already so West Coast, the first single taken from the highly anticipated Ultraviolence isn't the obvious comeback hit, a little underwhelming on first listen but it leaves the door wide open on what to expect from the album.
Enjoy. Believe the hype.
