Musée Jacquemart-André

By Eyepreferparis88 @eyepreferparis

JA-1After many years, I recently returned to the Musée Jacquemart-André for an exhibit. I was so enamored again with the wonder of the architectural details, the exhibit faded in the background. Realizing I never have taken serious photos, I unleashed my camera and shot away. I was most fascinated with the grand two-sided staircase of marble, iron, and gold gilt, a architectural masterpiece in my eyes.

Musée Jacquemart-André was the former home of Edouard André, an heir to a banking family, and Nelie Jacquemart, a respected society painter. The opulent mansion completed in 1875 housed the incredible art and antiques collection amassed by the couple, including one of the finest collections of Italian art in the world. After her husband’s death, Nelie fulfilled his wishes to donate their collection to the state, and the mansion was converted in to a museum in 1913.
