Murder Bourbon Barrel Aged Porter – Powell Brewery

By Mike @mikescraftbeer

From Powell Brewery in East Vancouver comes their "Murder" a Bourbon Barrel Aged Porter aged for 24 months in American oak. This was a single barrel release. The beer pours a very deep brown with a brown head. The aroma consists of vanilla, bourbon, oak, milk chocolate, caramel, creamy and sweetness. The flavour is of vanilla, caramel, chocolate, bourbon, oak, mild roasted malts, dark fruits, sweetness but with a dry finish and some alcohol. The alcohol content comes in at 11.2%. I am not sure if it needed 24 months but it sure didn't hurt this one at all. I really enjoyed this porter.

Commercial Description: Murder is a special version of their Dive Bomb porter that has been aged for 24 months in American oak bourbon barrels. The end result came out at a massive 11.2%. Murder will be available at the brewery only on Wednesday December 13, 2017 and there will only be 28 cases available.
