This week, while perusing the goodies on 1st Dibs, we spotted this Retro gold, diamond and ruby brooch in Sheila Goldfinger’s shop. At first, we just kept scrolling, thinking it was one of our own pieces on 1st Dibs!

However, this beauty has slightly tighter rays, a warmer hue of 18kt yellow gold, and diamonds. Circa 1940, this vintage pin is indicative of the coming “space age” which is why it reminds us so strongly of our own retro starburst pin.

A colorful sprinkling of rubies mimics the contrast of the more expensive pin, but swapping diamonds for precious deep blue sapphires lowers the price significantly. As does a slightly lower gold content (ours is 14kt) but this beautiful rendition of the same style pin doesn’t lose any of its beauty. And nearly 1/6th of the price, we’ll take this mirror image!
